This year the kids made beautiful Mother’s Day gift boxes which were filled with chocolates donated by Sandra.
She's been part of the school for about a month now and she has pretty, russet feathers and a sharp beak and she lays an egg every day.
When Kakoo first came she was nervous and especially when all the children came out to play at break. It wasn't long though before she got used to the noise and activity and she is very happy in her new home now. She enjoys the gentle stroking of her feathers and doesn't mind the small fingers touching her comb. For their part, the children love her. It's a special treat to feed her and collect her egg and they take it in turns to have the fun of it.
... and now we have a rooster. His kind donor brought him last week. He's a very handsome fellow but he's not sure what to make of all these kids invading his space every day. He spends a lot of time in the hedge at the moment and I didn't want to agitate him by trying to take his photo. I will post one though as soon as I have one and also tell you what name has been chosen for him.
Till next time...
