This year the kids made beautiful Mother’s Day gift boxes which were filled with chocolates donated by Sandra.
Wednesday dawned not too hot and not too windy, thank goodness - the perfect weather for the Clean-Up.
Juffrou Zaan had asked all the residents to put all the junk lying behind and between their houses on the side of the road and arranged with the municipality to send a truck to collect it. I'm sure they were very glad to have some means of getting rid of it.
The little Pikkewyntjies were issued with a glove each and set off very excited with their teachers to pick up sweet papers and cooldrink cans lying around near the school. The older class went further afield while graduate Pikkewyntjies who joined the group worked like galley slaves to fill 31 black bags with rubbish.
Mooi Uitsig looked a different place when they called a halt at lunchtime and the tired workers piled their bags together ready for collecion on Monday.
They were glad to wash their hands at the school and then tuck into boerewors rolls organised by Juffrou Zaan and prepared by Louise, the school's wonderful cook. The satisfaction of the good work they had done - which they could see for themselves all around them, added pleasure to the braai, I'm sure.
Congratulations to everyone who bent their backs to the task. You made the difference.
