This year the kids made beautiful Mother’s Day gift boxes which were filled with chocolates donated by Sandra.
While the children are safely within the walls of the school, they soak up the good habits and manners, they are taught and absorb the lessons of kindness and decency.
They also come to believe that just because they are poor doesn’t mean they have to remain poor all their lives.
At the end of the school day, they go home and for many of them home is not a particularly nice place to be and it’s hard to hang on to what they learned during the morning when they are living reality day after day.
Their teachers know this and know they are fighting an uphill battle. Because of what’s at stake it’s a battle they must win. They know this too and it keeps them fighting. Every gesture of support from the community is a vote of support for them and the fight to help each little Pikkewyntjie, regardless of home circumstances, to a fulfilling life.
Combine our little Pikkewyntjies and the philosophy learned as children and there’s a force for good in the community as they grow and a good chance of increased safety and friendship and peace in that community as there always is when more people give as much as they receive.
The School’s Mission says it like it is.
