In previous years, Die Fees van die Gaanse offered rock and surf angling and deep sea angling. In June 2012 with Lomond Wine Estates participation fresh water angling was added to the mix. What makes this event so unique is the fact all the fishing is done on the same day and the prize giving is given simultaneously.

In 2012 Lomond saw 50 shaw and boat anglers participating in the event. A lot of fish were caught and a lot of fun was had. The winner of the 2012 fresh water fishing compition brought in a wopping 1.39kg large mouthed bass. We hoping to beat that this year.

In 2013 we are also hoping to see 50 participants in the competition. What sets this year apart from the previous year is the fact that Lomond is opening it's doors to the public for an open day of wine tasting, sales, food stalls and extended entertainment into the evening with a dj, live music and lekker potjiekos. All the proceeds of this years competition witll be going to SEC-Skills Exchange Cooperative, a local organization focused on social, economic and nature based upliftment.
