About

Greyton Ecolodge is an incentive run by Greyton Transition Town (GTT), a non-profit organisation.

Janet Richards has been at the lodge since 2014 and took over managing it in 2019. Janet has a passion for people. She is always on hand to give the best advice about Greyton’s top attractions.

Many repeat guests say that Janet’s friendly hospitality and the lodge’s good vibes inspire them to return year after year.

Funds generated from the Greyton Ecolodge are used for the Eco-Crew / Ranger programme run by Greyton Transition Town.

Greyton Transition Town

Greyton Transition Town is part of the worldwide movement of around 3,000 towns. The organisation brings communities together to find local solutions to global challenges.

GTT is the first official transition town in South Africa and a flagship project of the Western Cape government’s 110% Green Initiative. It works within the community on such issues as food security, waste management, healthy housing, renewable energy and integration. Eco-ranger programmes for vulnerable children and young people are offered for children and adults.

Reviews

Reviews

“Greyton Ecolodge might not look like much from the outside, but the inside is clean and smells fresh. The beds are amazing, especially after a long day. Not a lot of noise from the outside world. DStv, communal kitchen and dining area, along with free Wi-Fi. The staff are all very friendly.”  Jacques Folscher
“Friendly staff, clean and neat room with beautiful views. Greyton Ecolodge is in a great location and within walking distance of the main road and attractions.”  Lise-Mari Gillespie
“What a great place to stay! Friendly, helpful staff and the cheapest rates in town. Facilities are clean, albeit basic. Quiet, but also perfect for children. Greyton Ecolodge is safe and central to town and has easy access to hiking trails and other outdoor activities. They are big on recycling.”  Sven Fautley
“Greyton Ecolodge is a lovely place. The staff is so friendly and attentive. The food was awesome. I slept like a baby every night. Late-night bonfires are a dream to do so close to nature. The tranquillity this place and its location provides is worth recommending.”  Wilmari Hanekom
“We had a school camp at Greyton Ecolodge. It was the best camp. The town is beautiful. There are hiking trails and a hidden waterfall. The friendly community is part of the many things that make this small town beautiful.”  Taryn Sheldon
