5 TECHNIQUES TO ADD TO YOUR CURRENT INTERVIEW PROCESS

Dear friends

I trust you are well and had a wonderful time with your family and friends. Are you back at work yet? I am still taking it slow the next couple of days and will be back in full swing on Monday 10 Jan 2022.

I am not one for new years resolutions, but I have decided my word for this year is AWARENESS.

That is why I would like to share the following FIVE TIPS with you. We cannot carry on doing the same things in the same way and expect CHANGE

Let’s be honest, when you are INTERVIEWING A CANDIDATE, how much time do you spend working on the interview questions? Or do you just do a quick search on the internet on what to ask? It is ok, I am in HR, your secret is safe with me. Most business owners are not experienced in assessing people via interviews.

Keep in mind that the same information that is available to you on the internet is also available to the candidate, with guided answers, so how do you really know if that is the REAL PERSON or is it a well recited answer?

HERE ARE 5 TECHNIQUES YOU CAN USE IN FUTURE TO ADD TO YOUR CURRENT INTERVIEW PROCESS.

1. INVOLVE YOUR TEAM MEMBERS. There are many ways you can involve your team members, they do not even have to sit in on the interview.

2. SURPRISE TEST OR PEN DROP TEST. The best way to see how someone will react is to throw in a surprise. To get the best results out of a surprise test, you need to know exactly what it is that you are looking for in your candidate.

3. REAL-WORLD INTERVIEW. I am a huge fan of a practical interview. Not only is this a way to test their skills, but the candidate can also decide if they like the working environment or not and then you don’t have someone resigning three weeks down the line.

4. SITUATION TEST. Ask specific questions in the interview and double check their answer with the previous employer.

5. INTERVIEW SCORE SHEETS. Limit personal biase by using interview score sheets.

WISHING ALL A WONDERFUL 2022 FULL OF AWARENESS.
