Vacancy in Bredasdorp: Accountant
The accountant will be responsible for ensuring financial processes and controls are adhered to throughout transaction processing. The position will collate financial information and assist in the compilation of monthly management accounts, group reports, financial statements, and budgets.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION (OTHER TASKS MAY BE ASSIGNED AS REQUIRED)
• Authorize weekly and monthly payment requests
• Process forex transactions
• Review biological assets/inventory reconciliations and valuations
• Compile and process monthly accruals and general journals
• Review monthly accounting transactions and reconcile monthly control accounts
• Compile management accounts for review
• Compile schedules for and assist with monthly group reporting
• Assist with annual budget compilation
• Assist with compilation of annual financial statements and consolidations
• Prepare tax returns and ensure the correct submission of income tax, provisional tax, VAT, and labour taxes
• Compile audit file and assist with both internal and external audit queries
• Ensure the reliability, accuracy, and completeness of periodic stock counts
• Ensure adequate financial data protection and access controls
• Assist with monthly budget monitoring as well as risk and commercial analysis TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures (IFRS)
• Up to date knowledge of company tax regulations
• Proven experience with Pastel accounting package
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Attention to detail and able to draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material
• Ability to take responsibility, manage functions and drive deliverables
• Work experience in manufacturing will be advantageous
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Qualified CA or CIMA
• Minimum 3 years’ post qualification experience as an accountant
• Must be a team player
Starting date: 1 July 2022
