Adeléne Esterhuizen grew up in Johannesburg and received her MBChB at the University of Pretoria in 2007. She obtained her FCOG (SA) at FCOG (University of Pretoria) in 2016.
In her final year of study, an invitation from Mediclinic Hermanus allowed Dr Esterhuizen to open a practice in Hermanus, which she did in 2017.
Compassion and a holistic approach to medicine have made her a specialist of choice in the Overberg. Many of Dr Esterhuizen’s patients travel from surrounding towns to be treated by her.

In South Africa, Doulas are also called childbirth companions. A Doula provides non-medical, continuous, uninterrupted, emotional and physical support to the woman and her partner throughout labour and childbirth. This care takes the form of comfort, reassurance and gentle touch.
