An Urgent Cry for Help - Food Delivery Vehicle Needed
Why a delivery vehicle?
Ecclesia Centre is a non-profit organization that is the umbrella for 6 soup kitchens which are responsible for feeding the elderly, and vulnerable families in need in-and-around Villiersdorp, Western Cape South Africa.
Before the COVID-pandemic caught everyone off-guard the non-profit organization was already going over and beyond to meet the demand for assistance for those most in need. Now, a new challenge threatens to cause havoc.
A lack of sufficient transportation means that food parcels run the risk of being spoiled because deliveries can’t be made. The trips out to the farms are especially problematic with volunteers using their own cars to navigate gravel roads. For health and safety purposes onsite collections are not permitted, so the need for transport has become rather urgent. Food donations are also piling up in Cape Town, so the Ecclesia Centre has now put out an appeal, from the heart, for assistance.
Privately renting a vehicle would set the centre back by over R900 a day and is not a practical solution. So ideally, a miracle donation of a suitable delivery vehicle or the money to purchase one would be a dream come true.
Overview:
Ecclesia Centre is a Non-Profit Organization in Villiersdorp in the Western Cape, South Africa that was established to uplift and protect youth in the community. Encompassing a place of care and positive learning for babies, toddlers and young children from the age of six months upwards.
Ecclesia Centre helps pave the way for youth to grow into educated and well-balanced adults.
The Centre has a number of facilities which includes a Baby and Childcare Centre, a Resource Centre and Essential youth counselling services. A daily feeding scheme fills the tummies of the Ecclesia Centre’s full-time and part-time attendees, and there is 6 off-site soup kitchens for the homeless and those in need which is run by volunteers.
YOUTH: The youth that attends our Centre also stays on farms and sufficient transport will also make it possible for them to attend workshops, training, etc.
ECD: Most of the babies that is at our Centre, stays on farm too and we need sufficient transport to accommodate them as well.
